Most likely there are as many different ideas of truth as there are people. People form alliances with agreed upon ideas of truth as the foundation for the alliance. Complete agreement is not required for the alliance to act as an independent entity. If I had never been taught or told anything what would my opinion of truth be? Maybe I would just say I have no idea about how we got here or what happens when we die. I would have no idea if the world is round or flat or what the sun is. I would not know why it is hot. So it is easy to see we just believe what I have been told that matches with our thinking and gives us the best chance to get what we want. Almost always we believe the religion we grew up in is true.
